Life without an I-phone?

Its hard to imagine the things you wouldn’t get photos of without your iphone, Apple has sorted out its camera so it takes great web quality images, if the subject is front lit, the cameras are very contrasty and if something is back lit you don’t get a hell of a lot of detail. But the cameras do make for a lot of fun!

Andy Murphy is one of Australia’s most successful and exciting DJ’s, a fun loving party boy, I thought it would be great to shoot Andy kitted up Calibre style, looking very Miami. The magnificent Adelphi Hotel generously opened their doors to the rooftop pool for the shoot and the results came out amazing! The shots are in the hands of the 360 Agency as we push to get the images published! Big thanks to Christina Chloe for styling, Calibre for supplying current clothing, and as earlier mentioned, The Adelphi Hotel.

When DJ Lauren Mac and Percussionist Laura contacted me for DJ press shots I thought I was in for just your standard DJ images, but then they handed me a reference and things got exciting! Using a simple 7ft octa and a ladder the image is quite simple, technique wise, but is effective because of the elements,
- Black and White
- Half naked girls
- Strong shapes from the records
- Interesting angles

Fox Campaign

After being a bit quiet in terms of working with Fox Lifestyle I was bought back on board to shoot their Winter 2012 campaign, as well as the front cover! Modeling was up and coming pro surfer Cahill-Bell Warren. It’s always hard to get athletes to model but after a slow start Cahill started to get comfortable and we got a great front cover.

Being mates with models and designers has its advantages. A lunch catch up with Chadwicks model Mark Ipaviz quickly turned into a fashion editorial, involving Christina Chloe styling, Alley Azzopardi hair & makeup and current spring range from labels Nana Judy, Less Is More, Deska and White Wolf. The results were a super fun shoot with a good crew and some fun images for my folio once they are published. Thanks to all involved ☺

Ringside Fashion

Fashion Stylist Christina Chloe came to me with an editorial concept that was very close to her heart, create high fashion in a Muay Thai gym. We enlisted the stunning Mary Vitanaros, just before she begun filming for Project Runway, from Giant Management for talent and Don Millar www.supafightgym.com.au opened his gym for us and Yvvone Borland for Hair & Makeup www.yvvoneborland.com. To really try and make this editorial something special I hired 2 tilt shift lenses, 24mm & 90mm to shift the focus and give the editorial some strong edge. The downside of these lenses is no autofocus but having an assistant and shooting directly to the laptop allows me to monitor the sharps. Stoked with the results and can’t wait to see them in print! RAFW Sydney Fashion Week

So I packed my camera, best threads and along with Australian Fashion Guide flew north to photograph the Christina Chloe, Australian Fashion Guide RAFW Street Style Competition. Got to go to some great parties at the Ivy and the Nana Judy afterparty, but the highlight of the week was going backstage at the closing show for Bowie and get some exclusive images! What a show and what an eye opener! Thanks to www.fashionsquared.com for the access!!

Desmond The Label

This weeks lookbook was was a new client of mine but an old friend Leah Hills for her leather label Desmond. I had a fantastic model and good friend of mine Olivia Arezzolo from Giant Management strutting her stuff, and the very fun Blondie doing hair and makeup www.blondebeauty.com.au. The shoot was a bit different from how I normally shoot lookbooks as the references were for a very soft and raw image, so after some experiments and adding film grain I love the feel of the lookbook, it all came together beautifully.

Im lucky enough to be able to combine my work with something I love! So over Easter I trekked down to the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach to follow Bede Durbidge around for Fox Clothing, and in the meantime witness the most amazing surf contest!!
